Barra 2021 Reserve Petite Sirah
The signature varietal that launched the Barra brand in 1997, this petite sirah features certified organic grapes that were hand picked from our 27 acre hillside vineyard, Bella Collina, located high above the Ukiah valley (925 feet elevation) in Mendocino County. Following the advice of Karl Wente and Louis Martini in the early 60’s, Charlie Barra began planting the petite sirah varietal, and we continue to bottle limited quantities of this luscious, hearty wine.
2021's excellent growing conditions coupled with the steep hillside location of this petite sirah have resulted in a wine that is deep, dark and concentrated in both aroma and flavor. On the nose you are greeted with blackberry, black plum, dark chocolate and toffee. In the glass you’ll find intense, rich flavors of cassis and cherry. The soft, velvety mouthfeel followed by rich, lively fruit makes for a very approachable wine.
Despite its youth, this wine displays remarkable balance and maturity, promising great potential for aging and further development in the bottle.
18 months / 30% new French oak, remaining in neutral barrels
