
2023 Girasole Sangiovese
The single-vineyard fruit for this 2023 Sangiovese was handpicked from our home ranch, Redwood Valley Vineyards, in early October 2023. The grapes were then delivered to our winery just a few miles down the road where they were destemmed to a refrigerated tank for fermentation. After 48 hours of cool soaking, the grapes were inoculated with a CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers) certified yeast. The must was mixed two times per day to extract color, flavor and tannin. The wine was then aged on French oak for 8.5 months.
On the nose, inviting aromas of wild strawberries, juicy raspberries, and a hint of rose petals. On the palate, flavors of ripe cherry and pomegranate accompany notes of sweet tobacco and delicate baking spices. The smooth tannins and fresh acidity make for a delightful, elegant finish.
