Redwood Valley Vineyards, our home ranch originally planted in 1955 and located at 837 feet in elevation, was the source for this organically farmed 2021 pinot noir. After being handpicked in mid October from blocks J and N, the fruit was delivered to our winery 5 miles down the road. It was destemmed, crushed and moved to stainless steel tanks where it underwent primary and secondary fermentation. The resulting wine was then racked to barrel where it was aged for 8 months.
Light to medium ruby in color with bright, zesty aromas of fresh crushed cherries, red licorice and oak spice. On the palate, flavors of red currant, vanilla and coconut. The ageing in small French coopered barrels harmonizes the fruit with a touch of sweet oak character, delivering a medium- bodied, yet delicate wine that is perfectly balanced.
