Gold Medal Winner--2017 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition
The 2015 Barra Chardonnay starts with enticing ripe pear aromas mixed with warm caramel notes. On the palate, the richness is balanced by refreshing acidity and zesty lemon/lime flavors. The wine was barrel fermented, with about 20% new French oak, primarily Francois Freres. It completed ML fermentation in barrel and benefitted from biweekly lees stirring to add richness. It pairs beautifully with creamy chicken dishes, pork roast with root vegetables, or cheese plates by the pool.
