Each bottle of 59th Harvest is personally signed by vintner Charlie Barra.
Vineyards: 100% estate grown on Redwood Valley Vineyards planted by Charles Barra 53 years ago. Harvest: 6.121 tons hand picked and delivered to Bruce Regalia, winemaker, in 1/2 ton macro-bins. Brix at picking: 24.5
Fermentation: Cold soaked for three days, followed by 14 days of fermentation in stainless steel one-ton micro-bins and punched down by hand three times a day.
Aging: Wine was aged in new French oak barrels made by coopers Damy, Cadus and Billon and had its first racking after 14 months.
Production: 254 cases
Winemaker notes: Medium ruby in color, this stylistic Pinot Noir exhibits complex and deep aromas of strawberry, black cherry, cedar and forest floor. These primary aromas are followed by exotic aromas of anise, leather, cardamom and white chocolate. The flavors are varied, complex and layered with a rich full-bodied supple mouthfeel. Earthen strawberry is followed by black licorice which evolves into black plum and Chinese five spice. The oak flavors of caramel and vanilla are very well integrated with the fruit and spice characteristics. Each bottle is personally signed by Charlie Barra.
Note: Because of the higher alcohol content, this wine is best served after decanting.
